Verisign .com wholesale increases near 7% per contract cycle flow to registrars and then to you. A 500-name portfolio at $14 renewal becomes $7,000 per year before any acquisition spend. Fee pressure is silent until it is fatal.

Rule of thumb
If cumulative renewal exceeds 40 percent of realistic exit and no outbound replies in six months, drop or deep-discount. Registry fees do not pause because you believe in the name.
